Tim McGovern, the visible results artist and Oscar winner for his work on the 1990 movie Complete Recall, has died. He was 68.
McGovern’s spouse, Reena NeGandhi, shared information of her husband on social media.
“Right now is the saddest day of my life. My Husband Tim McGovern, an Oscar winner for the VFX in 1990’s for Complete Recall and several other extra awards from the VES has died immediately. He handed away in his sleep,” NeGhandi shared on Fb.
NeGhandi shared that he discovered McGovern unresponsive and referred to as the ambulance however was declared “useless on arrival.”
“Once I went to go wake him up at 1pm He wasn’t getting up and I realised he had no coronary heart beat or pulse,” she continued. “I rapidly referred to as the ambulance. We took him to the hospital they tried to revive him with CPR nevertheless it didn’t work and so they claimed him useless on arrival. He was solely 69. Could his soul RIP.”
The Visible Results Society lately acknowledged McGovern with the 2023 Founders Award for his contributions to the artwork, science, or enterprise of visible results and meritorious service to the Society.
McGovern was a founding member of Sony Footage ImageWorks and ran it because the Senior VFX Supervisor in addition to the SVP of Inventive and Technical Affairs. After leaving Sony, McGovern continued as an unbiased VFX artist and filmmaker.
NeGhandi shared that McGovern had written a movie and a novel, which she’s going to now take over and make for him.
“He had so many life desires for his movie and now he’s gone. He’s left it in my arms to make it occur now,” she added. “I don’t know how I’ll dwell with out him. He took such excellent care of me and he was my world. Could his soul relaxation in peace.”
