EXCLUSIVE: CAA has signed Kip Williams, the adapter and director of the buzzy West Finish manufacturing of the Sydney Theatre Firm’s The Image of Dorian Grey starring newly minted Olivier Award winner Sarah Snook.
Williams is the youngest-ever Inventive Director of the STC. The corporate’s Dorian Grey, that includes Succession‘s Snook in all the roles, opened final month in London’s West Finish to rave critiques.
At STC, Williams directed Enjoying Beatie Bow, Cat on a Scorching Tin Roof, The Resistible Rise of Arturo Ui, Three Sisters, Cloud 9, Chimerica, A Midsummer Evening’s Dream, All My Sons, Abruptly Final Summer season, Macbeth and Romeo and Juliet, amongst others.
Williams has additionally tailored and directed productions for Melbourne Theatre Firm, Sydney Chamber Opera, Malthouse Theatre, and Perth Competition. For this work, he obtained the Helpmann Award for Finest Route of a Play, the Inexperienced Room Award, and the Sydney Theatre Award for Finest Director.
